La vita, per il giovane Coud "Cou" Van Giruet, è fatta di scorribande ed avventure all'interno dei pirati dell'aria "Red Linx". Un giorno, durante uno degli assalti alle navi mercantili, trova all'interno di un sarcofago una ragazza addormentata. Lei, Reverie "Ren" Metherlence, è una Adil Raid, una sorta di arma dotata di un proprio spirito e che può assumere forma umana ma che esprime tutto il suo potenziale solo unendosi a un altro essere umano, il cosiddetto Pledger. Ren è inizialmente ostile a Cou, ma dopo alcuni accadimenti i due decidono di partire insieme per un viaggio verso un luogo chiamato Adil Garden dove vuole incontrare una certa persona. A loro si uniscono presto alcuni agenti della Arc Aile, un'organizzazione che ha l'obbiettivo di proteggere e tutelare la Adil Raid: la sempre bene armata Cisqua e l'onesto e generoso Rowen con la sua bella Adil Raid Kuea.
