I guess this upload was in Polish?
Many polish caracters like "ć ł ż" are not being properly displayed by default, so I did reencoding and uploaded a new file with proper default settings for every users (BOM-8)

What do ou mean with "BOM-8"? You mean UTF-8 encoding? Or ASS versus SRT? Or both?
The BOM-mark is not mandatory for UTF-8, and UTF-8 is not the ONLY way to display special characters correctly. For Polish, also CP1250 would work. In fact, many older standalone players do NOT support UTF-8, so it would make it even LESS compatible.
Anyway, having TWO files, being different in ONLY the character set and/or ONLY in file format would still be considered duplicate. I guess you can imagine it would be possible to create 2x2x2x2x2x2x2 files which are strictly 'different' but not really. This would not quite be a service for the downloaders...

All right, I get your point. Yes, I mean UTF8 in .srt files. But VLC plays them and actually every other software I tried. I often need to spend a few minutes to reconvert files in .srt with proper spelling, which is why I wanted to help others so they would not have to do it as well, especially that not everyone knows how to do that.
Anyway, I will follow your instructions and stop to do it, and upload only missing or new/corrected subtitles.

I appreciate your good intentions. But thanks for understanding this is not the best way to go.
The problem with UTF-8 will mainly occur with older standalone video players, not with computer software. Also, a lot of people may have their videoplayer set to CP1250. Then subs formatted in CP1250 wil just play correctly. Probably you have your player set to UTF-8. If you then use CP1250 subs, then those characters display incorrectly... See what I mean? Its not about subs being 'bad' or the player being 'bad'. It's about the combination...
